a great big happy birthday to you, mom. i hope you have an amazing and fun filled day. we will soon celebrate with an afternoon of indian buffet, thrifting, flea marketing and then wrap it up with an evening movie at the farm. thanks for always being loving and supportive, making me laugh, embracing and participating in my eclectic interests and adventures, teaching me that everyday is unique and special and a new day. my list of thanks (to you and dad) is endless...but, biggest and best of all, thanks for being you. i hope your birthday is grand and special in all the ways you wish. at the end of the day i hope you get a few quiet snuggled down moments for yourself. you're the best. i love you....jame

the 2nd... red jelly ring made with a piece of vintage glass.
beautiful little puff balls that are blooming on our fairy duster plant and our variegated agave with its pretentious sharp blades.
here is a picture of our front yard with our new bed of fresh dirt in the foreground. we planted it full of lettuce and spinach seeds in hopes to share the bounty with our interested friends and neighbors. we made a pattern out of the lettuce and spinach seeds.....i hope it turns out.
when my folks were visiting we planted winter veggies in our garden: a couple varieties of spinach, black seeded simpson (my favorite lettuce), red leaf lettuce, baby carrots, and a couple different varieties of beets. it was great to have mom and dad helping out as i remember helping with a garden when i was growing up. we planted them on a tuesday evening and by saturday morning i was giddy to see a few wee little sprouts had pushed their way thru the top surface of the soil. oh, sweet little sprouts..work your magic!!!

chris and i bought this serro scotty "fixer upper" trailer several years ago with plans to give it a bit of much needed tlc and then take it out on the open road. yeah, hahahahaha, that didn't happen! we sold it when we bought our house...we figured we would have our hands full with projects for some time to come. every time i see a picture of the scotty it tugs at my heart strings. it would be such a grand adventure to be able to take this on a few road trips when the weather is nice. ahh, someday we'll have a new little zoomer to pull along and snuggle down under the stars.
i guess it's in my blood.....here is my great grandma (gaga), great grandpa (papa cook) and my uncle cameron...i would guess in the 50's. i love old pictures.....this one is a favorite of mine.
i just had a meeting this week with the women of handmade austin women to begin the planning of the may 2009 show. we had a really yummy pot luck dinner with salad, curry soup with rice, green beans, vegan chili, fresh fruit, hummus & crackers, cookies & pumpkin cupcakes. we designated jobs, developed our calendar, and talked about new artists for the upcoming show. the candidates will be chosen by october 15th.......YEAH, i can't say anything other than it's going to be the best show yet.....i can't wait. i feel truly honored to be part of such an amazing event with so many talented and inspiring women. the may 2009 show will be on may 2 & 3. here are some pictures from last year's show that i wanted to share with you.
