i scored this beaded necklace at a really cool vintage and oddities shop here in austin, uncommon objects. does anyone know how this beaded necklace was made? crocheted? knitted in the round? is it just a traditional bead stitch? the peyote bead stitch will stack the beads next to each other but i've never seen it with thread threads exposed and interwoven like this piece. i would love to learn how to make one with the thread exposed and woven just as this piece is. anyone???
i am in awe with the work of katie niewodoski. the pop of color among the nude, skin-like, color palette and the use of polymer clay and bead materials are made into something resembling systems in an underworld or within the human body. it would be a treat to see these pieces in person.
think this would fit nicely in my cupboard.

i am floored & inspired by the breast to breast brooch by margaux lange. personally, the timing couldn't be any more meaningful.
additionally every detail is lovely:
the classic shape
the putty color
the barbie doll breasts
the concept & homage

i am hopeful margaux will make the "strand of pearls" breast necklace as well =)
i love the idea of creating a necklace or ring using teeth or just one tooth from maybe a loved one like your witty and charming five year old, a found animal tooth, or from your special furry friend. i have been making jewelry out of found, random and peculiar things since i started making jewelry about 10 years ago. i don't think teeth would be to much of a stretch. i have used dryer lint, animal fur, rubber grapes, construction paper, moss, antler, plastic from doll shoes, bouncy balls, melmac, just to name a few. i have some teeth of nemo's that i have been finding about the house lately which has renewed my inspiration for teeth in jewelry.
any takers for a bizarre and sweetly sentimental piece of jewelry.... any brave and slightly twisted characters out there up for the challenge?? lemme know.....

i am in love with this vintage charm bracelet from classic style. i have never seen one so filled up with experiences and adventures. i fondly remember my great grandma wearing her collected charms on a similar bracelet. i have a soft spot for vintage charm bracelets. and vintage lockets. my aunt kathy always had on a locket and i loved nothing more than to sit on her lap and peek into her little locket. at a very young age i already had an affinity for tiny treasured space.
this stack of erasers tugged at my heart strings. when i was little i had an eraser collection. i also had an interest in taking plain jane erasers like these pictured and make "eraser dust" that i kept for special projects but mostly i loved having the eraser dust in a flip top container just because =)

i came back from the art and air art festival in st. louis to a boat load of peaches. chris had been out to visit his folks and this year for the first time ever they have peaches on their tree. yay!! every year since the tree has been planted (7 years ago) the weather gets nice in the spring and the blooms arrive and then frost strikes and burns off the blooms. they are the smallest and mightiest peaches i have ever had. the peaches range in size a quarter to about the size of a golf ball. they are so sweet, yummy and beautiful. i am thrilled to offer a helping hand, or belly, in the consumption department. yum yum!!!!
who doesn't need one! am i right?? everyone can use a little extra love!
