crossing the finish line....
i did it.....not with a fast time, but still, i did it....yay!!! getting my ass kicked by bikram several times a week, i believe, lended to my success!!! yay!! here i am proudly crossing the finish line, with my family cheerin' me on. it was a beautiful course along a country road lined with corn fields, old barns, farm houses and a pond. it was fulfilling and quite lovely. i may have found a new past time. now i will need more yoga to get rid of the soreness in my hips...ouch. :O)
hills and hollows 5k/half marathon run...
this weekend i will be helping my family with the hills and hollows 5k and half marathon run that is organized in honor of my late uncle, melvin fisher. this will be my first year to be home for it and i'm even considering running the 5k....well, jogging, or just walking...hahaha. i do bikram yoga i should be able to jog a bit over 3 miles, right? well, i can always run a little, walk a little :O) if you're interested in participating visit the website here.

i love this fossil opal clam necklace......it's so sweet and beautiful!! i wish i could hold it in my hand so i could see the flashes of color in the opal. hmmm, if it were only made in oxidized sterling :O)

chris and i watched this amazing and beautiful movie the other night called fur:an imaginary portrait of diane arbus. it's an unusual charming story depicting diane arbus (nicole kidman) falling in love lionel sweeney, a man that has hypertrichosis...or werewolf syndrome. lionel is played by robert downey jr.

hooray, it rained here this afternoon....and it was more than spit!! i'm so very happy. it has been such a long while since we've had a good rain. i really miss the good booming sound and smell of the rainstorms from living in the midwest.

i just stumbled upon this really cool food blog called sprouted kitchen. it's a husband a wife team, she does the cooking and kitchen experimenting and he is a self taught photographer. the images are really beautiful and the food looks healthy yet delicious. yum.

little mato!!
last week i got a package in the mail from my mom!!!! she is always sending me some great little surprise in the mail. this one tops 'em all. i opened up the padded envelope and stuffed inside was this sweet little tomato pincushion. the very one that she used while sewing our halloween costumes and her own maternity clothes when she was pregnant with my sis and i. yay.....momma, you're the best. this little tomato made my heart melt and i love it so. thanks mom...xoxox

i am making a paper chain...you know the kind we all made in grade school. it will be used to jazz up the site for the handmade austin women show: either as part of the border for the walk way, around the porch, hanging from a tree, as a bright orange paper chain mountain sculpture...who knows!!! weather will play a deciding element. this photo was taken early on today...i worked on it a half hour here and there between working on necklaces in the studio. i now have about 60 feet of chain made and hope to have 2-3 times that by the show. i just found all this paper in the drawer my mom had sent me awhile back while rummagin' around this morning and got inspired by it. i'm sure it being orange had something to do with it. as the signs i just made yesterday for the show are orange too. we'll see how long it gets when it's finished....i have two and half weeks to work on it in between everything else. eeps, it will be here soon. Yay!!!
