display with aqua cabbage patch…

i found these aqua cabbage patch kid shoes in the left foreground that i am using to display some bubble and filigree earrings at an antique store a while back.  i bought them thinking i would cut them up and use the yummy aqua plastic in a few rings/necklaces…..honestly, folks…i just don’t have what it takes to cut into them.  i have cut up uncountable number of objects for the sake of “the fun and quirky” but i just can’t with these.  guess, i’ll just love them just as they are, if that makes me a weinee, sobeit!!!

here is a pic of my freshly cleaned studio….boy, did it need it!!  i hate to say that this was a few weeks ago and the grind of getting ready for clayton next month has taken it’s toll on the order of it all.  but, it mostly looks like the image if you can imagine a small-ish heap on my bench with goods splattering outward…..

i’m attempting to get back in the swing of things since my return from the art and air art festival in webster groves, mo.  it was a wonderful whirlwind adventure.  i have been “on” for many months now without any significant down time. see, i am not the best at down time. i am trying to learn how to give myself time to refuel after big deadlines/events/stress balls have passed, but it’s not really my nature.  so, this weekend, i will attempt to get some much needed r & r and pretend this pink suitcase is mine, packed with a blanket, a good book and my kombucha.

….which probably means i will be doing some haw design/website/studio work :O)

the squirrel and the puppet….

my friend christa of yellowbaby made this rad little finger puppet. i couldn’t resist…i had to snatch it from her at our show (handmade austin women).  when i brought it home and put it in my studio i laughed to myself when i realized the chemistry between “the squirrel” and “the puppet”.  hope they make you smile too!!
